Learn Japanese
On this page we're going to go through some basic Japanese language, sentences, numbers and small phrases.
First of all the Japanese pronounce words in a broken down way, if its a short word it could be the same as we say things. if it's slightly longer it could be broken into two parts or maybe three, and so on. Secondly, all vowels are pronounced the same way.
We are now going to go through some basic Japanese, remember that this page will become larger and adjusted over time. First though, the vowels.
a = as in father, so you would pronounce the letter a like it sounds in the word father.
i = as in eat or meat.
u = like food or pool.
e = as in bend or end.
o = like Ohio or toe.
Now thats out of the way, here is some Japanese:
Konnichi wa = Hello or Good morning. <So to pronounce this word you must first pronounce it how it is broken down, its a long word so needs breaking down a bit. Kon-nichi wa. So you pronounce it with a slight pause after the Kon part, after you've practiced that remember to pronounce your vowels right. So Kon = like toe or Ohio, nichi = like you pronounce meat and wa like you pronounce father. Konnichi wa= Hello or Good morning.
Konban wa = Good afternoon
Ja mata ne = See ya
Arigato shi mase = Thank you very much.
